cling.AI, a digital public infrastructure, was conceptualised to support cities in turning big global climate promises into big local climate actions. Leveraging AI, it aims to address three connected challenges that delay progress in climate action: 1) inaccessible climate linguistics that keep citizens away from climate dialogue, 2) inconsistent climate linguistics that deepen the gap between real action and reporting, and 3) an infinite volume of climate reports at the municipal level that are to be read to coordinate actions smoothly. As an inter- and intra-city web platform, cling-AI envisions a future of simple, common, and consistent climate language to enable everyone to act.

Features
The platform was designed to have three distinct interactions: 1) clingCHAT, a chat-based AI application for all climate action queries, 2) clingCOLLABORATE, an AI-supported city intranet facility for climate governance, and 3) clingCREATE, an AI-enabled climate content generator for citizens’ outreach. Within it are multiple features, including a city climate action calendar to coordinate meetings and milestones across agencies and a climate investment tracker and dashboard to support cross-sectoral climate budgeting. clingCREATE was framed as an opportunity to create citizen-friendly, accessible, easy-to-read reports and multimedia assets to support participatory climate decision-making.A conceptual visualisation of cling.AI portal
This was an exploration on integrating AI for local climate action to create a new urban future, where multi-agency collaborations are effortless, citizens are empowered to champion climate action, and cities have an effective tool to track and report their progress consistently and meet global targets.
